In June 2005, Schapelle Corby stated to her lawyer, Erwin Siregar, that she was willing to take a lie-detector test to prove her innocence. There can be no doubt that only an innocent person would ever agree to such drastic measures.
Erwin Siregar, had visited Schapelle Corby in the jail where she now sits dreaming of freedom. The walls of Kerobokan prison have done nothing to break her determination for justice. Twelve months have passed. To some that time means nothing more than another year closer to Christmas shopping. But for Schapelle Corby, that time is spent slowly waiting for the endless minutes to pass. She must wonder by now how on earth she will endure the long road ahead.
She had replied: "I am ready" when asked "would you take a polygraph test to prove your innocence".
For many of us who sit quietly hoping for a miracle, the fact remains that Schapelle has not yet won her fight for freedom against an unjust sentence, 20 years. But she hasn't lost her dignity either, or the admiration of those of us who remain quietly vigilant in the hope of oneday seeing her freedom restored!
