5th Letter from Nick Baker

Hi All

Nicks last letter must have been running late as I now have his 5th letter dated 18/02/2006.

Nick says all thought its getting warmer in Japan at this time it is still very cold in Fuchu.

I had asked Nick about TV and Radio and he says that he has Radio on Saturday and Sunday afternoon and evening mainly chart music. Monday and Friday is just American news and politics. TV is for 1 hour 50 mins Tuesday evening and a movie Thursday night and Sunday morning, Nick says this can make you feel almost human, although he is dissappointed that they will not get to watch the Winter Olympics.

Nick appeared quite concerned about his future and is still keen to get text books on plumbing, he worries that his future is very bleak and will need to learn new skills if he is to have any hope of working again after this is over.

Nicks work continues in the factory but work is sometimes short, prisoners appear to be feed on the work they do, so if their working day is short then their food is reduced!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Prisoners are not allowed to buy any extra food in Fuchu. Has I've said before I am concerned about prisoners weight loss.

At this time Nicks asthma is still a problem he as a virus with the cold and unhealthy living conditions.

Nick was not allowed the thermals bought for him and he tried to orders some but was told, by the time you get them winter will be over. He did manage to get some warmer socks.

He has received some more of his personal books which he said were much needed.

Nick had been to mass and seen the father which Im sure will have help Nick.

He had also had a visit from his Lawyer he said it was good to see a friendly smiling face.

Has always Nick misses his son so very much and Nick had sent him a short letter with mine.

He send his best wishes to you all and thanks you for your continued support.

Nicks letter was much shorter this time.

With the winter sport and commonwealth games I know Nick would love anynews papers that cover this, so if anyone can send him one from any where I know he would appreciate them.

Thank you all

Iris Baker
