BANGKWANG PRISON INMATES
BANGKWANG Bangkwang caters to prisoners who are serving 30 years to life. Death Row inmates are also placed at Bangkwang.

LARD YAO / KLONG PREM PRISON
LARD YAO Lard Yao mens prison holds inmates who are serving sentences of 15 years or less. Sometimes foreigners are held here during trial, or prior to release.

LARD YAO Lard Yao Womens prison, also known as Bankhen prison is the main prison where foreign women are kept.

CHIANG MAI PRISON
CHIANG MAI Chaing Mai prison hold both inmates serving time and people no remand awaiting trial. Inmate listings change regularly as they are sentenced and moved out to Bangkwang or Lard Yao prisons.
THONBURI REMAND PRISON
Established in 1994 Thonburi Remand Prison is one of the three remand prisons in Bangkok area. It takes in custody of remandees and convicted prisoners whose sentence term are not over 7 years or not over 14 years in case of elderly prisoners. As of January 2005, there are 3,396 prisoners and 256 prison staff.
BANGKOK CORRECTIONAL HOSPITAL
Central Correctional Hospital is a correctional referral center for sick inmates from prisons in Bangkok and vicinity. It accommodates 500 inmate-patients and fully equipped with medical facilities such as 4 major operating rooms, 4 dental units, medical and dental film less digital X-ray system, tele-medicine (psychiatry and radiology), etc.

PHITSANULOKE CENTRAL PRISON
This prison is located about 7 kilometers east of Phitsanuloke in central Thailand. It is easily accessible by local bus, which stops at the prison gate.

On 22 March 2004, prison officials said there were about 3,100 male and about 400 female inmates.

BOMBAT HOSPITAL
Bombat is listed as being a hospital. It measures 60x30m and contains only sleeping quarters (Rooms 24’x14’) and factories of low-tech manufacturing. The official ‘hospital’ is 2 small rooms, one for taking urine samples for drug tests on new inmates/victims. The other is set aside for minor surgical procedures.

GENERAL INFORMATION ON VISITING AN AUSTRALIAN IN PRISON IN BANGKOK
Register at the Visits Desk with PASSPORT as ID and be prepared to wait for the next round of visits. Your name or the name of the prisoners will be called over a loudspeaker - listen carefully and enquire often, so that you do not miss out. Each visit lasts approximately 30 minutes.

It is important to wear polite attire - no shorts, revealing clothing, short skirts or bare shoulders. Your appearance could affect your reception and you could be denied entry to the prison.

Shopping and banking facilities are available at the prisons and items will be delivered to the prisoners. Deposits of money can be made for the prisoners at the prison as long as you have the name and building number.
